It is difficult for recyclers and consumers to cooperate proactively in recycling end-of-life power batteries. Thus, it is found that government subsidies to recycling companies and consumers can maximize social welfare at the lowest government cost.
Financial subsidies can reduce the research and production costs of new energy vehicle manufacturers, thereby promoting technological progress and product development (Wu et al., 2020).
The policy stipulated that only NEVs that were equipped with batteries that met the conditions specified in the document were eligible to be listed in the " Recommended Model Catalog for the Promotion and Application of New Energy Vehicles " (MoIIT, 2015) and thus receive subsidies (low-level policy means).
Power batteries are the core of new energy vehicles, especially pure electric vehicles. Owing to the rapid development of the new energy vehicle industry in recent years, the power battery industry has also grown at a fast pace (Andwari et al., 2017).
In conclusion, governments should introduce policies to support companies that handle renewable power battery recycling to optimize the structure of the power battery recycling industry and achieve the goal of balanced economic growth and environmental protection. The results of this paper provide a basis for government policy.
