The fabricated supercapacitor using this electrolyte shows high specific capacitance (406 mF cm −2). Huang et al. have done research on eco-friendly kappa-carrageenan gel electrolyte which shows a conductivity of 3.32 × 10 −2 S cm −1 at room temperature. The fabricated supercapacitor has the specific capacity value of 291.5 mA h g −1.
The specific capacitance of symmetrical capacitors at different scan rates is varied from 302.78 to 95.35 F/g. As compared with the earlier reports, the prepared supercapacitor attains an appreciable specific capacitance. The charge–discharge behavior of the fabricated symmetric capacitor (SC) device is also characterized by the cycle durability.
At 8 A/g current density, high specific capacitance is attained as 150 F/g. The power and energy density are obtained as 6000 W/kg and 12.17 Wh/kg, respectively, for 12 A/g of current density. In conclusion, the higher conducting electrolyte proves to be a promising choice for symmetrical capacitor applications.
GCD analysis is carried out within the potential range of − 0.2 to 1.2 V. The GCD curve of the fabricated symmetrical capacitor for different current densities shows quasi-triangular shapes which are nonlinear and not highly symmetric as shown in Fig. 18.
Ye et al. reported a gel polymer electrolyte using PVA and carrageenan with different ratios in LiOAc which exhibits a conductivity of 34.7 mS cm −1. The fabricated supercapacitor using this electrolyte shows high specific capacitance (406 mF cm −2).
