In recent years, reversibly thermo-responsive materials have been widely explored and integrated with lithium batteries because they can autonomously detect and reversibly respond to thermal faults in the battery.

The lithium batteries integrated with thermo-responsive materials are expected to have spontaneous and reversible thermo-responsive and thermo-regulation functions to achieve safer and more durable lithium batteries.
A photo-assisted reversible lithium-sulfur battery (LSB) is demonstrated for the first time. The photo-generated electrons/holes could accelerate the sulfur redox reaction, highly lowering the reaction energy barrier. The abundant photo-generated carriers in situ formed inside the cathode could effectively boost the electrochemical kinetics.
