The standard charging profile for flooded lead-acid batteries has 2 phases. During phase 1 the battery is charged at high current until the battery is 80% charged. Then phase 2 begins. As the battery voltage rises during phase 2, charging current tapers down toward the finish rate current and the battery voltage starts to flatten out.
Pulse-1 equalize consists of an additional 30 minute charge time at the end of a charge cycle plus a 6 minute maintenance charge every hour until the battery is removed. Pulse-2 equalize consists of a 2 minute maintenance charge every 30 minutes for 72 hours. For flooded lead acid batteries a normal equalize is generally used.

For Champion sealed batteries, the normal equalize is set for every 20 charge cycles. The control can also perform an equalize charge when requested manually. Press the ‘EQUALIZE’ key.
