In this second course Dr. Spotnitz provides a detailed overview of battery design principles and considers electrical behavior, different cell geometries and designs, and thermal behavior. He also addresses battery management systems.
It can update the battery parameters in real-time and improve the identification accuracy. The online parameter identification algorithms typically include the recursive least squares (RLS) type algorithms [8 - 16] and the filter type algorithms [17 - 19].
MATLAB software is used to design the identification algorithm to realise the identification of battery model parameters. Firstly, the lithium-ion battery is charged and discharged intermittently at 0.33 C (12 A, recommended charging and discharging current ratio by the manufacturer).
