Hangzhou Five Star Aluminum, a subsidiary of Dingsheng, will supply LG Energy and its three China units with 61,000 tons of aluminum foil for batteries in the next four years, the Zhenjiang, Jiangsu province-based aluminum processor said late yesterday.
A unit of Dingsheng will supply the new energy vehicle battery giant with aluminum foil for four years till December 2025, the Zhenjiang-based supplier said in a statement yesterday. The tally should involve 512,000 tons of such material. The pair will agree on pricing later. Dingsheng is the world's biggest battery aluminum foil producer, it said.
The battery foil produced by the company is one of the base materials for lithium batteries of new energy vehicles, which can effectively adjust the performance of power lithium batteries. The company's battery foil customers cover large domestic lithium battery manufacturers such as catl, ATL, BYD and GuoXuan high tech.
Dingsheng is the world's biggest battery aluminum foil producer, it said. The firm makes 94,000 tons of such foil per year, making up 40 percent of the global total, it added. The company counts BYD and Volkswagen's Chinese battery partner Gotion High-Tech as some of its major customers. The supplier has been having a great sales year.
Dingsheng has been hiking output of the aluminum foil for lithium batteries in recent years to meet surging demand. The product has a high profit margin at around 29 percent and the increased capacity has had a noticeable effect on the firm’s performance.
