You need to have a renewable electricity generating system that meets the SEG eligibility requirements. You must have a meter capable of providing half-hourly export readings. This would typically be a smart meter. Speak to your energy supplier about getting a smart meter installed if you do not already have one.
SEG Generators are paid by their chosen SEG Licensee for the electricity which they export back to the National Grid. Generators thinking of applying for a SEG tariff should shop around to see which tariff is best for their individual circumstances. Generators may receive deemed export payments for installations with a capacity of 30 kilowatts or less if an export meter is not fitted. This is where export is estimated as a percentage of the generation meter reading, rather than being based on an export meter reading.
