Circuits with voltage compensation consist of three components connected in series: a passive Element 1, a passive Element 2 and a "helping" voltage source VH (Fig. 10). The Element 1 converts the exciting (input) voltage V into a current I and the Element 2 converts back the current into a voltage drop VE2.
Due to the effect of series capacitor the receiving end voltage will be instead of VR as seen from the phasor diagram (Figure 2). Thus with series capacitor in the circuit the voltage drop in the line is reduced and receiving end voltage on full load is improved. Series capacitors improve voltage profile.

Objective of compensation is to achieve stable operation when negative feedback is applied around the op amp. Miller - Use of a capacitor feeding back around a high-gain, inverting stage. Miller capacitor only Miller capacitor with an unity-gain buffer to block the forward path through the compensation capacitor. Can eliminate the RHP zero.
Series capacitors are of little value when the reactive power requirements of the load are small. In cases where thermal considerations limit the line current, series capacitors are of little value since the reduction in line current associated with them is relatively small.
Series capacitors are very effective when the total line reactance is high. Series capacitors are effective to compensate for voltage drop and voltage fluctuations. Series capacitors are of little value when the reactive power requirements of the load are small.
