Silicon is considered as one of the most promising candidates for the next generation negative electrode (negatrode) materials in lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) due to its high theoretical specific capacity, appropriate lithiation potential range, and fairly abundant resources.
5. Conclusion and perspective Silicon is considered one of the most promising anode materials for next-generation state-of-the-art high-energy lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) because of its ultrahigh theoretical capacity, relatively low working potential and abundant reserves.
Silicon anode lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) have received tremendous attention because of their merits, which include a high theoretical specific capacity, low working potential, and abundant sources. The past decade has witnessed significant developments in terms of extending the lifespan and maintaining the high capacities of Si LIBs.
Silicon (Si) is considered as one of the most promising candidates for next generation negative electrode (negatrode) materials in LIBs due to its much higher theoretical specific charge capacity than the current commercial negatrode (carbon-based).
Silicon and its oxides remain the most promising and alternative anode materials for increasing the energy density of Li-ion batteries (LIBs) due to their high theoretical specific capacity and suitable operating voltage.
Silicon is widely recognized for its very high theoretical lithium storage capacity, appropriate lithiation potential range, and abundant natural resources, which proves promising for the next generation of negatrode materials in LIBs.
