Energy National Policy Statements provide planning guidance for developers of nationally significant energy infrastructure projects. Based on the above analysis, as the first comprehensive policy document for the energy storage industry during the ‘14th Five-Year Plan’ period, the ‘Guidance’ provided reassurance for the development of the industry.
These policies are mostly concentrated around battery storage system, which is considered to be the fastest growing energy storage technology due to its efficiency, flexibility and rapidly decreasing cost. ESS policies are primarily found in regions with highly developed economies, that have advanced knowledge and expertise in the sector.
Since April 21, 2021, the National Development and Reform Commission and the National Energy Administration have issued the ‘Guidance on Accelerating the Development of New Energy Storage (Draft for Solicitation of Comments)’ (referred to as the ‘Guidance’), which has given rise to the energy storage industry and even the energy industry.
Impact of energy storage system policy ESS policies are the reason storage technologies are developing and being utilised at a very high rate. Storage technologies are now moving in parallel with renewable energy technology in terms of development as they support each other.
