NIO says its new 150 kWh battery has the largest capacity of passenger EVs built in China. According to NIO, the single cell has an energy density of 360 kWh/kg with 6X stronger cooling than ordinary batteries. The real message here is the greater energy density of the battery. Otherwise we are just talking about a giant , heavy battery.
In their initial stages, LIBs provided a substantial volumetric energy density of 200 Wh L −1, which was almost twice as high as the other concurrent systems of energy storage like Nickel-Metal Hydride (Ni-MH) and Nickel-Cadmium (Ni-Cd) batteries .
