Recent Advances and Critical Analysis of BTMS In recent years, significant advancements have been made in the field of battery thermal management systems (BTMS), driven by the need to enhance the performance, safety, and longevity of lithium-ion batteries, particularly in electric vehicles and renewable energy storage systems.
One of the most challenging barriers to this technology is its operating temperature range which is limited within 15°C–35°C. This review aims to provide a comprehensive overview of recent advancements in battery thermal management systems (BTMS) for electric vehicles and stationary energy storage applications.
The importance of effective battery thermal management systems (BTMS) for Li-ion batteries cannot be overstated, especially given their critical role in electric vehicles (EVs) and renewable energy-storage systems.
Furthermore, the research extends its reach into developing a sophisticated battery thermal management system. This system ingeniously incorporates heat pipes alongside a nonlinear model predictive controller (MPC). The synergy of these components yields precise temperature regulation and notable reductions in power consumption.
Thermal optimization may be achieved battery thermal management system (BTMS) that employs phase change materials (PCMs). However, PCM's shortcomings in secondary heat dissipation and restricted thermal conductivity still require development in the design, structure, and materials used in BTMS.
The proper choice of thermal management system is essential for LIBs, considering factors such as battery size, lifespan, and charge and discharge rates. Advances in new materials, such as nanometer PCMs, and advanced cooling and heating techniques are improving the efficiency and safety of these systems.
