Bend pin1 up alongside the solar positive hole. Put the solar wire in from the component side, and solder it in, making sure to solder it to pin1 at the same time. Cut two black wires to attach to the black ground wire on the circuit board. One will go to the battery negative, one will go to the LED negative.
Mark where each wire goes on the circuit board - I colored each solder spot with red or black magic marker. Cut the wire that goes to the lights about 8” OUTSIDE the box Pull the wires that are going outside it to the inside. Hook up the battery wires. Feed the Solar panel & LED wires thru the hole to the outside of the case.
Make a small square cut out at the top of the pole that holds the solar panel case. Thread the bottom wire thru the pole, line up the wire with the square cut out, put the pole on. At end of wire that comes out of the bottom of the pole, put a plug with short wires on the end, but don’t shrink wrap or solder it on yet.
On the breadboard above, if you aren’t familiar with breadboards, each of the 5 rows in the middle is connected vertically. For example, pin 1 (on the left side) on the 5252 4 pin chip, as you go down, is connected to the positive red wire on the solar panel. Another example, pin 3 is connected to the black ground wire.
Open up the electronics box, if you can and dry it out. Put it back together and seal around the edges with silicone. I used a toothpick with a tiny bit of silicone on it to seal around the solar panel, without getting too much silicone on. Seal the crack up so water can’t get under it.
Then I can either mount the solar cap, or just a regular solar panel to the Plexiglas. If just a regular solar panel, the circuit board and battery can be mounted under the Plexiglas, inside the container. You’ll need to drill a small hole in the Plexiglas for the wires. Make sure the everything is well sealed.
